What work can we do together?
From a non-conforming relationship to or expression of gender, finding strategies for navigating the world with a neuro a-typical brain, chronic pain and/or illness, recovering from complex trauma or religious abuse, relationship struggles, challenges with communication, to the frequently asked question of “Am I normal?”, it can often be hard to think about seeking help for our mental health and wellbeing. Why do many of us feel really challenged by this?
Well, for many of us when we were growing up, we really weren’t given any kind of explicit, direct information about how to navigate the world around us in ways that accounted for our non-conforming gender, neurotype, or nervous system that may have been deeply impacted by indoctrination or ongoing pain, trauma, or abuse. For many of us topics of identity, gender, and sexuality were often forbidden and taboo so we certainly weren't being given accurate information about the myriad facets of human expression and experience. Often, our families, cultures, and relationships gave us a pretty good list of what DOESN’T work for us, but when it comes to feeling like a healthy and thriving person, well… what does that even look like?
Though it can seem like a bit of a mystery, it’s not something you have try to figure out or suffer with alone. I love helping clients sort out what is not working for them, give them ideas on how things could be different, and help them take steps toward the life they really want, not the default one that they’re pretty certain is lacking or ill fitting. Reach out to get more information about potentially working together to create a life that is fulfilling and comfortable for yourself.
As a consultant, I want to help your organization to better support the nonbinary and transgender people you serve. I can offer consultation and sensitivity reading of your literature, website, and brochures to help ensure that you’re not accidentally excluding or offending a group of people that you want to feel respected and included.
Consulting for Helping Professionals
As you likely know, not burdening your clients with educating you about trans issues is an important part of affirming support and as a nonbinary, transgender licensed mental health professional who has also offered direct support to nonbinary and transgender individuals for over 10 years, I want to help you to better support the nonbinary and transgender people you serve.
As an educator, I want to help open up the world of nonbinary and transgender people to you or your group so that you can more effectively support us in the work you are doing. Whatever your current level of exposure and experience, I’m happy to nurture your growth as a supportive presence in the lives of the nonbinary and transgender people you interact with.
